Since the pandemic, my work has focused on deeply understanding and solving problems of staff burnout, designing meaningful work and reversing trends in psychological injury plaguing health care and social service sectors.
My original credentials are in economics and psychology, both disciplines that have doggedly held on to notions of science and progress now at least century old. After working on public policy reform for over a decade, I've seen all too well how best efforts to make things better for people has too often had the opposite effect. While providing me with a potent language fluency to talk to current affairs and the failures of the system, in recent years it has been my own personal recovery experience and love of creative expression that has been the north star of my work.
The Burnout Lady was born out of a program I developed on the fly for Service NSW to support staff dealing with burnout. At the time I was doing post graduate psychology study in lockdown - a great time to deep dive on a topic becoming so relevant and yet hard to define.
The Burnout Lady brings together training, coaching and mental health education all shaped according to the operating environment of your business! This content highlights what people need to be fulfilled, effective and healthy. Whether your staff are just low level flat or dealing with unprecedeted changes, these programs empower us to move away from blaming or lamenting our dysfunctional entrenched political and economic systems and practicing new ways of connecting and contributing to new ways of working.
Below I share with you more about how I work and what led me here…
About Me
About Me.
I go beyond the current workplace wellness interventions to understand what kinds of tools, resources and supports you and your staff need to not burnout.
My starting point is that
-
Most people know what they should and could do for their wellbeing and health
-
Most work places know the kinds of things that appeal to their staff and are relatively easy to implement at scale. This is an essential first step but often not enough.
-
Burnout happens in the intersection of work and our non- work lives. Neither the workplace or the person can grasp how to approach this without proper tools and guidance.
-
Tough times present the best synergies and opportunities to break through old silos. These tough times encompass the difficulty finding skilled workers, changing expectations of work, engaging younger generations in meaningful work, the introduction of new regulations on psychological health and safety, and the increasing prevalence of mental health conditions and neurodiversity.
I design and deliver online and face to face group conversations , based around a series of checkpoints, which ensure that clients remain in control of the process.
My services are delivered within and across groups.
If you think I may be able to help you, we can schedule an initial consultation to discuss your situation and go through options that fit your budget and timeframes.
My background
Since the pandemic, my work has focused on deeply understanding and solving problems of staff burnout, designing meaningful work and reversing trends in psychological injury plaguing health care and social service sectors.
I have followed trends in policy over my career motivated by a curiosity and calling to look after those intangible and often invisible things that big business and big government cannot value. Of the most urgent, is the creativity of people when supported to be themselves in community...without the hype!
I am part of a living thriving network of creatives synthesizing and applying leading information on human performance, workplace cultural and social change, emotional intelligence, creativity and problem solving.
My mission is to reduce suffering built into the way we work by:
-
Undertaking rapid research on issues with work health safety that busy business executives are not able to consider. This research integrates:
-
demographic insights and trends
-
industry and localised risk factors
-
government regulatory requirements
-
-
Supporting staff, carers and helpers across the world to manage the unintended side effect of stretched and stressed work environments on their home and family life.
-
Helping leaders truly advocate for the wellbeing of their staff and fulfil on well meaning intentions. This is done by:
-
simplifying the social and emotional intelligence tools to work with; and,
-
managing performance and risks to the business to allow the returns on human capital to bear fruit.
I follow the most advanced thinking on the planet and make it user friendly for you. And most importantly, I practice what I teach to the best of my ability every day.
The magic happens when we can:
-
Cut through the noise by asking great questions
-
Create conversations that clearly articulate the unsaid and ignite real change
-
Establish relationships that prioritise mutual respect and clean communication
-
Uncover business and people management solutions through creative problem solving and play.
Together we master new conversations, create creative and viable businesses and make work safe, fun and fulfilling for as many people as possible, upstream and downstream.
